One-martini Lunch

The author and the publisher enjoyed a one-martini, celebratory lunch at Spruce yesterday.

There were also a few business details to discuss in as much as the publisher is headed off for the summer to his ranch in Wyoming tomorrow afternoon.

Shared were: a Caesar, graciously pre-chopped; plus GOLDEN POTATO GNOCCHI MAITAKE MUSHROOMS, PEAS AND FAVA BEANS, PANCETTA, PARMESAN, and SHORT RIB SUGO RED WINE FAROTTO, ENGLISH PEAS AND CARROTS, and, for dessert, BEIGNETS CHOCOLATE SAUCE, CRÈME ANGLAISE, as well as APRICOT ALMOND FINANCIER HONEY ICE CREAM. All delish.

The author concluded with ORGANIC SWISS WATER DECAFFEINATED RICH COCOA/TOFFEE/ORANGES, which, if you’ve read pp. 132-133 of An Old Junker, you realize is a beverage the author cares unduly for.

Although the ramekin of (real) whipped cream was nice, the beverage itself was thin.

Perhaps too much of the SWISS WATER.
